Actualización de última hora / Last minute update

Well, today I have been busy doing some housework, hanging out with some friends enjoying the great day we have had and answering all the messages and comments I had without a response.
So I have had no time to write in the blog but as I don't want to miss another weekend without an entry, here you have a couple of photos of the high school I work at. I have to admit that they are not so good so I'll try to take a better one. See you next week!

¿Qué es Comenius? Mi experiencia - What is Comenius? My experience

Well, it has been a while since I don’t write here. The theory is that I have been really busy organizing some extracurricular classes in the high-school in which I am. What is actually true. But it has been also that bloody habit of “I’ll do it next week” which never become true. The fact is that I promised to a certain friend of mine that I would update this week (this is dedicated to you Vir) and here I am to write a bit about what the Comenius project is.

The Comenius program is organized by many educational institutions of the European Union, like the Erasmus program. Moreover, Comenius has several branches, one specially designed for school students, another for groups of teachers and and another for students of the education field in the last university year of recently graduated. The main objective of the program is to promote the European awareness for all across the territory of the Union and motivate for the cooperation between all the European countries.
In my case, the Comenius assistants, our task is to help in the daily routine of a school of another country in Europe and give a hand with any project that school could be carrying out. We also have the great opportunity of teaching our own native language and the culture we come from to the students of that school. The aim is precisely to encourage that European feeling of which I spoke about before.

And now I will write about my work here in Cologne. On one hand, I help in a high school with a project about racism and migration in which they cooperate with other schools in Spain, Italy and UK while I also teach Spanish in the extracurricular courses I mentioned at the beginning. On the other hand, now I have started to go as an observer to a primary bilingual Spanish-German school in which I would like to teach too J
And that’s all about Comenius and what I’m doing here in Germany. If someone is reading it and is interested in applying for a scholarship to
The next update will be less formal and I will try to write it the next weekend, as I promised when I started this blog. See you then.

English at the end of the text in Spanish.

Well, I’m not the kind of person that pays so much attention to the ground when walking. Actually, I hardly ever see it. That’s why I was really surprised when I read in blogs of other people living in Germany that there are several golden paving stones all around Cologne like the ones in the picture above.
To be honest, although I had been living here for two weeks I hadn’t noticed them. And it’s funny because even if you don’t pay so much attention you will see them, in groups or alone.
The fact is that they show the names of those anonymous people who were victims of the Nazism and were murdered just for being homosexual, Jewish or any king of “non grata” person for Hitler followers. They are exactly in the place where these persons once lived and you can find them in the most of the cities in Germany (or even abroad, like in Italy).
I think that the initiative, carried out by the artist Gunter Demning, is really beautiful to remember us that we can learn of our past mistakes thanks to the History and also to remember those people who suffered the worst part of the war. But I can’t avoid to sigh bitterly each time I see them…

Here is the update of this weekend. I'll dedicate it to the "Schokoladenmuseum" or "Chocolate museum" :-)

Well, to begin with, I need to say that it is the most horrible and awful place I have ever visited. And I would NEVER recommend it. When you finish, after seeing the sculptures made of chocolate, the only thing your brain can think is: "Chocolate, I need chocolate, give me chocolate!"
^^ Just kidding. Honestly, the museum is really worthy. The ticket is 5 euros with a student card but then you can try chocolate four or five times so, I think it's not so bad. The museum explains really well (in English  and German) all the things related with the cocoa and the chocolate making. In fact, there is a little factory in the inside to show you all the machines and how they work although there is also a room with some people making handmade chocolate.
The last part of the museum explains a bit of the pop culture and the marketing related with the chocolate.
So, you know, if you come to Cologne it's a really nice and different place to visit. But don't say I didn't warn you! If you are chocaholic like me, don't go or your savings will tremble with horror in the chocolate shop there is at the exit of the museum!

And now, photos!

I hate bier but I love chocolate...difficult decision...

                                                             Encantador, ¿verdad?
                                                                  Isn't it lovely?

Me encantaría tener una en mi habitación
I would like to have one in my bedroom

Attention, English at the end of the text.

1ª semana en Köln

Pues ha estao mu bien.

Fin de la 1ª semana en Köln

...

...

XD

Well, what can I say about Cologne...I love it. And just after a week. But I only can say that this city is great! It has the facilities of a big city (and it is) but it is not so crowded with the exception, as usual, of the shopping area. Unfortunately, the most of the old and historical area of the city was completely destroyed in the World War II (bloody wars...) but all in all it is a worthy place to visit. I will write in the future about the different places I visit here.

And about my high-school, the Humbold Gymnasium, (no, it's not a school only for sports, "Gymnasium" is a German false friend and it means "high-school") I really like it. It's really big for what I'm used to and each day I meet a new teacher in the teacher's room. However, it doesn't have to be a bad thing. Apart from that, wonderful. The teachers are really nice with me and the students are great, they seem to be really interested in learning Spanish. If some of them read me, here I give you me greetings! I hope my six months here can help them to like the language, at least a bit more :-)

Y ahora... ¡Fotos!
And now... Pictures!

The cathedral of Cologne which is very interesting for Spanish people. You'll find why in another chapter :-)

                                                         Sobran palabras, ¿verdad?
                                                         No need for words, right?

One of the few old streets I have been in

Presentación

¡Hola gentecilla!

No os lo perdáis, ¡he podido ver el "making-of" y promete bastante!
